Piano futon

For the Eco Design booth in the Salon International de design Interieur de Montreal, I wanted to have a product that was sustainable, more importantly, design a product that to me needed to have a bigger statement which was that sustainability did not have to come before purpose.

I wanted to modernize classical design which in theory is made with detail work and produces waste. While the piano is a classical shape, it is possible to create doubles from all pieces used. The color as well as the metal gives it the modern edge I was looking for. Lastly, the use of leather perfect this futton so as to age better with time, rather than the other way around.
